A stage full of emotions and memories of what the riders had overcome. Crossing the finish line, the participants began to realize what they had achieved. Looking at the Mediterranean and with the memory of the Cantabrian Sea last Sunday, they realize the greatness of an incomparable mission. Today, the participants have been able to complete the bottle with water from the Mediterranean, after what has been the most successful edition of the Deporvillage Transpyr Coast to Coast.
But before reaching the finish line and being able to celebrate the challenge achieved in style, they had to finish the seventh stage. For mountain bikers, the timed section began just after the start and lasted for twenty kilometers along the trails of Ripollés. Then the beauty of the Llerca bridge crossing came followed by the Besalú supply station as the sea that slowly approached.
On the road, today was a tougher stage than usual despite being the last. In addition to making the Ares and Coustoujes passes, in French territory, very close to the finish line, the riders made the last effort to build the Sant Pere de Rodes and Perafita passes. And all this with a warm wind that made progress difficult
In the end, the absolute winners of Transpyr Coast to Coast were, in the men’s category Ismael Ventura and Guillem Cassú, in the master Steffano Fratta, Simone Scarella and in the Grand Master, Roland Ploner and Andrea Vecchiato.
Trophies were also given today to the winners of the individual category for Gabi Torralba, Grégoire Archambaud and Marc Gutés.
